Writing and Admissions Consulting

Personalized support for students applying to selective universities

Students I've worked with have been admitted to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Stanford, Cornell, Penn, UC Berkeley, Duke, and other highly competitive universities. They’ve also won recognition from the US Presidential Scholars, Young Arts, Coca-Cola Scholars, and Scholastic Awards.

Behind the outcomes

I take on a small number of students each year so everyone gets individualized attention at every stage. The process is grounded and strategic, producing applications that get the attention of admissions committees.

Learn more about my approach

As a writer and college admissions consultant with more than a decade of experience working with high-achieving students, I bring a trained eye to each student's story. My MFA in Writing, earned as a Truman Capote Fellow, shapes how I approach every essay — and having won a YoungArts Award in high school and graduated from UC Berkeley with honors, I know how to help a student develop writing that earns recognition at the highest levels.

“I’m a perfectionist, and I was really stressed about my essays. Betsy walked me through the whole process, which significantly lowered my stress. She helped me see patterns in my experiences and turn them into a real story, not just a resume list. By the time I submitted for college, I was proud of the work I’d done with her. And I got into my first choice!”
